Lynda Tomilin

As a young girl I often dreamt of travelling around the world.  In 1992, I took the first step of accomplishing that dream by graduating from Travel and Tourism at Okanagan University and obtained my ACCESS/CITC entry level certification.

It was then that I knew that the Travel Industry was exciting and ever-changing and that this was the life long journey I wanted to become involved in.

I started out as a Junior Consultant at Marlin Travel where I obtained a lot of valuable information and training through the company and my co-workers, working both in the leisure and corporate markets.

In September of 1996, my husband got transferred to London Ontario, so along with our three children we moved across the country and not long after I took a position with a small independent long time family owned agency and then acquired a position with a larger Local Agency chain, again gaining more knowledge and attending several seminars and conferences.

I set my sights on a higher accreditation and after obtaining more specialist designations I took the next step and challenged the advanced level of the Canadian Institute of Travel Counsellors training and received my CTC (Certified Travel Counselor) status and went on to a full time teaching position at a ACCESS level II endorsed College all the while working part time in the Travel agency in order to keep my knowledge of this ever changing industry current.

As time passed I took on a Marketing Analyst Assistant position with Air Canada, learning valuable information on just the airline side. Another move gave me the opportunity to Manage a busy agency in a mall location. Once getting established there, my husbands career was climbing and we were again on the move, across Canada which gave me the opportunity to take a position on the Tour Operator side. This position was very demanding but yet exciting, I enjoyed being with the travellers and helping out with all their needs. Moving onto the Sales Department and then promoted to the National Special Events Coordinator.
 
And now, here I am part of the Flight Centre Independent Family which allows me access to one of the largest networks and travel companies in the world.
