I Love Regent Seven Seas Cruises

Just home from another Regent Cruise around the Caribbean. I can’t recommend Regent Seven Seas Cruises highly enough. The ships, cabins, food, excursions, entertainment are all top rate. But the best part is the friendly, helpful service with a smile from every employee.

Regent Cruises are the high end of all-inclusive vacations – but on a ship! Everything is included – food, wine, liquor, beer, excursions, gratuities – even the laundry facilities. No more nickel and diming you for every drink, excursion and gratuity. The ships are small – 300-700 passengers. The dress is casual. This makes for a very pleasant ambiance.

The Cabins.  Almost  all have balconies and are the largest afloat. They are attractively decorated and comfortable. I especially love the make-up table, lights and mirror. What a treat! Every nook and cranny is used for storage. Some washrooms have a separate bath tub which I really enjoy. The shampoo, soaps etc. are top of the line – a different line for men and women. There is always fresh fruit, water and flowers. Depending on the trip, the WIFI is often free.

The FOOD is amazing! Each ship has several options for all meals and has an outdoor venue for the good weather. The main dining room is fabulous. There is nothing that the waiters won’t do for you. The featured wines are high end – you can still buy wine if you want. And if you really like the French chardonnay from a few nights ago – just ask for it and it will appear. There is no charge for the specialty restaurants – Prime Seven (steak and seafood) and Sette Mare (Italian). Dinner is whenever you want. I understand that a French themed restaurant is opening soon.

Most EXCURSIONS are FREE. If not - you just pay the difference. The organization of getting people on and off the ship for all the excursions is seamless – no lining up. And you are always safe. The tour guides are amazing. Or, you can just go off on your own. Regent offers lots of pre and post cruise itineraries.
Here we are on sailing on the True North just off St. Martin. That's me with the grey hair and sun glasses.

Entertainment. I am always pleasantly surprised at the high quality of the entertainers. The singers, dancers, pianists, orchestras, productions are all fabulous. During the day, Regent also offers lectures from experts in political science, culture, current affairs. On a cruise through the Panama Canal last year, the lecturers were all from the PBS NOVA television series. We were treated to experts from the MARS Rover project, computer experts, the building of the Duomo in Florence, and more. It was difficult to get my husband up to get some sun! Regent has now joined forces with the Smithsonian to offer on board cultural and educational opportunities, usually related to the cruise itinerary.

Each ship has a spa, gym and walking deck area.

I am really looking forward to our next Regent Cruise on their new ship the Seven Seas Explorer. The Explorer is due to sail July 2016. We will be on board in October 2016 for Secrets of the Ancients – Istanbul to Jerusalem.

One caution – while children are welcome on Regent Cruises there is no formal children’s program.
