Sights, Smells and Sounds: India

I was pretty excited when I saw at the beginning of the month that On The Go Tours was offering select India tours as part of a 2 for 1 offering!

In 2013, I was fortunate enough to travel with Intrepid Travel to New Delhi, India and tour The Golden Triangle.  It was most definitely a trip that changed my life!

Quite often people are astounded at my love for India and wonder what it is that I love about it.  I feel that it is an amazing intense mixture of HIstory, Culture, Religion, Food and people.  It has an incredible effect on your senses.  All of the sights and sounds and smells can almost knock you off your feet.

I remember my first day.  I didn't know anyone and I was alone.  The hotel I was staying at didn't take Visa, Mastercard or debit so I the attendants at the desk managed to communicate to me that I had to go down the street to a bank machine to get some cash to settle my bill.  I stepped out of the front door of the lobbey into the street and was immediately frozen on the spot.  The sound...the heat... and the smell was quite a shock to my system.  Needless to say, I had to back up into the hotel and have someone escort me to the closest ATM.  It didn't take me long to adjust but that memory will stay with me forever.

Today I just want to share some of my photos to inspire you.

This offer with On The Go Tours is a great deal and now is a great time to book.  The most popular months to travel to India is October through to March, however sometimes the shoulder seasons can offer some great flight options!

Delhi...Agra...Karauli...Jaipur.  It is such a large country with so much to offer.

Sights - Architecture... Textiles...

A rug from the Heritage Stay that we stayed in on the way to Jaipur.

Textiles found in the market in Jaipur

The Taj Mahal no words necessary (yes I took this photo)

Sounds - Language... Music

One eveing in Jaipur, we had the amazing opportunity to visit a local cinema and watch a Bollywood presentation.  Singing and dancing with an amazingly interactive audience.  Not at all like the movie theatres here at home!

Smells - Masala Spices... Food
Regardless of the market that you visit, the spices are such a big part of it.

Naan! papads!  a platter of different dishes and tastes!

A lot of people asked me why I chose India, and so many are shocked that it is my favourite destination.
I can't wait to go back and will take Rich with me this time!

Let me know if you would like to discuss it in more detail! You wouldn't believe what I got to do and see!  I even stayed in a Palace of a Maharaj!
